It’s November 11, 12, 2023 and today, in our family, we are focusing on Celebration as we are celebrating Will’s 10th birthday and our 10th Anniversary of Parenthood! These feel like such exquisite milestones.
Bodies for Birth was inspired by my pregnancy, labor and postpartum experience as a new mom with Will and so it’s only fitting that we share the celebration with the BfB Community!
I remember teaching “Mom & Baby Gym” at the Ballard studio with a sleeping Willie in the pouch…or, on the slightly more challenging days, a nursing Willie in the pouch! Now he’s wearing deodorant and telling me about his crushes!!! š«£ It really is the “longest shortest time.”
I know there will be lots of happy, grateful tears today for the gift of our sweet Willie. Thank you for celebrating with us! I’m so glad you’re here.

Something to Read
CelebrationĀ is important. I’ve never felt that more clearly than when my mom, sister and niece lived locally. With family nearby, it always seemed we found something to celebrate…a dark, dreary Monday night became a Mexican Monday Potluck, successes at work and in life we were met with enthusiasm, with joy and created memories to last a lifetime.
I learned that Celebrations give us something to look forward to, they mark the passage of time, inspire creativity and create a glow that sustains and fuels deep within.
Celebrations occur throughout life as we mark birth, death, anniversaries, milestones, moves, life changing events and so on…
But, it’s not just the big things that we can celebrate…it’s ALL the small stuff too. It’s getting bed earlier (just like you’d hoped), it’s staying mindful and responding with patience (just like you’ve been working on), it’s saying “no” to that additional task (just like you promised yourself you would).
It’s taking stock of all of these little successes, acknowledging them and celebrating in your own unique way! It makes space for a mood boost, is an important component of change and is a vital tenant of Health Coaching.

Why You Should Celebrate Everything
Something to Try
Plan to celebrate something, ļ»æanything! Maybe an accomplishment, a milestone, progressāhowever big or small, an anniversary, a new idea, a fresh start, making a different choice, insight, intuition, the rain, the fact that itās a Sunday!
Get creativeā¦
Celebration can look like whatever youād like it to be. Celebrating Sunday might mean that thereās time for a solo walk or a bath. Celebrating an accomplishment might mean treating yourself to something special or toasting with family and friends. Celebrating progress might mean taking the time to journal and reflect. Take out the nice dishes for dinner with your family on an ordinary week night, maybe light a candle, play a gameā¦
The point here is that this is your celebration, so have fun with it and let it be unique to you!
Something to Create
With Thanksgiving on the horizon,Ā here are some fun ideas for seasonal craftsĀ for adults and kiddos alike. You can never go wrong with Little Handprint Turkeys after all!
In my experience, it’s kind of amazing how the smallest craft (like a Handprint Turkey) can truly create 1. fun in the moment, 2. memories that last, 3. a sense of realĀ CelebrationĀ and festivity for all!
