I am a wife, mama of two, and life long athlete…even though my definition of athlete has changed a bit. My fitness journey began early in life with team sports and continued to collegiate soccer, marathons, cycling, climbing and triathlon. A few months after my 2nd Ironman, I became pregnant with my first child. I was set on maintaining my fitness throughout pregnancy even before I knew all the benefits it provided. When I asked my midwife about safe exercise during pregnancy she said “just keep doing what you are doing”. She didn’t understand. Thankfully I found Maura and Bodies for Birth.
In 2015 I became a Certified Prenatal and Postpartum Exercise Specialist and have fused this knowledge with my career as a physical therapist. I work at University of Washington with a variety of patient populations, but have recently collaborated with our OB GYN team to develop safe movement and exercise classes for woman experiencing high risk pregnancy.
I am excited to join Bodies for Birth to share my passion for wellness and to stifle the prejudice that pregnancy is a disability. I believe all women are strong mentally and physically and I am on a mission to create a culture that inspires women into a confident balanced life throughout pregnancy and beyond.
